Understanding Erron's Letter Grading Review System

Grades of A:
A simply superior product--this represents the elite class of entertainment.  These projects come with an unconditional recommendation because the television shows or movies are holistically excellent.  The writing, direction, acting, production design and technical elements are all at the top of their form and effectively integrate to tell a highly compelling and entertaining story.  Films with this ranking are worth seeing in theaters in their first run release and most likely are worthy of being added to one's personal movie collection.  Television shows with this grade should be watched on a weekly basis as each episode airs rather than waiting for the show to be released via a streaming service or on disc.  In other words, don't wait for this one to pop up in your Netflix queue, get out there and see it today by any legal means necessary.  This film or television show is a keeper!

Grades of B:
A quality product that most likely has minor (but excusable) flaws.  Generally these projects are consistently engaging and/or entertaining but do not merit an unconditional recommendation.  The writing, direction, acting, production design and technical elements are all well executed-- if they contain some deficiencies, those are more minor in nature and don't significantly detract from the viewing experience. Many of the project's elements effectively integrate to tell a a satisfying, if not necessarily, riveting or compelling story.  Films with this ranking should only be seen in theaters if the picture's themes are of particular interest to the filmgoer or if they can see the film at a reduced ticket price.  Films with this ranking are highly suitable to watching on demand in one's home and will provide an enjoyable viewing experience at this price point and in this setting.  Television shows with this grade are suitable to be viewed once released via a streaming service or on disc, but should be done so in a timely fashion.  In other words, this is solid, quality entertainment, but not necessarily in an elite class.  This film or television show is worth watching!

Grades of C:
A run-of-the-mill product that has noticeable flaws.  Generally these projects are somewhat engaging but usually significantly recycle ideas and imagery that are in heavy rotation within the cultural and entertainment zeitgeist. Any recommendation is to "view at your own risk/discretion."  The writing, direction, acting, production design and technical elements are all sufficiently done but most likely contain multiple deficiencies which detract from the overall viewing experience. The quality of storytelling feels uninspired and is not consistently engaging for the viewer. Films with this ranking should not be seen in theaters--wait until one can watch the film on premium cable or via a streaming service for little or no cost.  Television shows with this grade are suitable to be viewed once released via a streaming service or on disc, but only if the show's themes are of particular interest to the viewer.  In other words, this is NOT quality entertainment, but might have limited appeal to a select audience that desires entertainment focused on a particular theme or genre.  This mediocre film or television show can be skipped!

Grades of D/F:
A sub-par product that has glaring flaws and is characterized by a bankruptcy of original ideas and lacks industry-standard craftsmanship.  Generally these products consistently fail to engage the viewer on any level, be it intellectually or emotionally,  The writing, direction, acting, production design and technical elements consistently fail to meet minimal standards of quality and/or contain pronounced deficiencies which destroy the overall viewing experience.  Be it television shows or films, avoid these projects by all means necessary.  Consider yourself forewarned.  This film or television show is complete crap!
